His Breath My Strength
Words by Christiana Richardson, Redruth
Slipping in sand
down an hourglass funnel
the grains scratch
broken skin.
I butterfly
and kick my legs
trying not to choke.
Clenching a hand
into a fist
I knock against the glass.
Time slips away
yet I see no end
I close my eyes
and pray
A rainbow of hope
scatters the dark
my saviour by my side
I see my God
he spreads his wings
over my
fragile mind
He whispers love
his breath my strength
his word
my reassurance.
He lets me know
my every day
is safe inside
his hands.
He smiles at me
his beloved child
I am not alone.
